Born in Shiga Prefecture, Japan, ceramic artist Moe Kaneda graduated from the Department of Industrial, Interior and Craft Design, Musashino Art University. She received the New Artist Encouragement Award at the 50th Japan Traditional Kogei Exhibition, Kinki Region, and was selected as one of the inaugural artists for CITIZEN Watch’s “Generation Z KOGEI ARTIST Support Project.” Her works are held in the collections of Japan’s Midorigaoka Art Museum and Taisetsu Museum of Art, China’s Taoxichuan Art Museum, and CITIZEN Watch Co., Ltd. She continues to participate in exhibitions across Japan, Hong Kong, and China, actively exploring ceramic art through ongoing creative practice. Through these experiences, she has gradually developed her individual style and expanded her international connections, demonstrating the distinctive vision and promising potential of an emerging artist.

Blue is central to her artistic practice. Using Nerikomi, a traditional Japanese ceramic technique, she layers and interweaves clays of different colors to create intricate and distinctive patterns. Inspired by the sky, the ocean, reflections on the water’s surface, and landscapes shaped by seasonal changes, she seeks to capture fleeting moments of beauty in everyday life through color, connecting personal memories with the rich historical significance of blue in ceramic art.

By incorporating translucent porcelain clay, she allows light to pass through her works, revealing the delicate textures within the clay and creating a visual effect reminiscent of stained glass. Moving between traditional techniques and contemporary aesthetics, she continues to explore the intersections of clay, color, light, and memory, developing a distinctive artistic language that reflects her individual sensibility.
