Chui Hiu Ching is an artist from Hong Kong, holding a Bachelor of Visual Arts from Hong Kong Baptist University. She also participated in a six-month exchange program at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol). With extensive experience in ceramic teaching and workshop planning, she has also curated several exhibitions and actively taken part in various art events, including Collect Hong Kong Art Fair, continuing to explore diverse creative practices in the field of emerging art.

Hiu Ching’s artistic practice is rooted in traditional ceramic techniques, which she approaches as a meditative process. Merging these techniques with contemporary art, her work centers around the theme of inner peace. Her pieces often reflect a deep sensitivity to the natural environment and explore the relationship between people and the land, weaving together emotion and thought.

She is particularly drawn to the process of wood firing, cherishing the intimate connection it fosters with nature and the spirit of collaboration it entails. The interplay of wood ash and flame marks creates unique, one-of-a-kind surfaces that embody the vitality of each piece. To her, wood firing is not only a precious craft, but also one that deserves preservation and continued exploration.
