Naoki Koide was born in Chiba, Japan, and graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at Tokyo Zokei University. He is currently represented by Tomio Koyama Gallery in Tokyo and has been actively working in the field of contemporary art. In addition to his artistic practice, he also works as an art instructor throughout Japan, dedicating himself to both creative expression and art education.

Koide has actively participated in international exhibitions in Japan, Taiwan, China, and Europe. He received the Silver Award at the Nanjing International Art Festival, and his works have been included in important collections such as the Pigozzi Collection in France, the Zabludowicz Collection, and the Takahashi Collection in Japan, demonstrating his creative achievements and international recognition in the contemporary art field.

Centered on figures from everyday life and human relationships, Koide’s practice transforms familiar individuals into three-dimensional works filled with emotion and narrative through the use of diverse materials such as FRP, ceramic, and wood. Through sculpture, he explores themes of family, social connections, and personal memories, capturing subtle observations of human nature within ordinary life.

Beyond his individual artistic practice, Koide established the art space “Koide Zaisho” in his family’s vacant house in Chiba, where he organizes projects such as “My Father and I: Art de Obon Night” (ぼくとオヤジのアートdeお盆ナイト). Through artistic presentations created together with his father, he incorporates social themes such as family caregiving, the revitalization of vacant houses, and intergenerational exchange into his artistic practice, demonstrating the potential of art to respond to everyday life and social issues.

Whether addressing local culture, family memories, or social themes, Koide’s works combine contemporary artistic perspectives with personal experiences, presenting a unique and warm humanistic vision on the international art stage.
