Signe Kløve Kjær

October 2025-November 2025

Danish artist Signe Kløve Kjær previously participated in artist Simon Levin’s apprenticeship program, where she took part in the construction of a train kiln and a soda kiln, gaining extensive hands-on experience in wood firing. She has also worked as a studio potter and participated in residency program in the fields of ceramics and sculpture, continuously deepening her creative practice and technical skills.

Signe approaches her work by treating clay as a textured fabric. Through impressed patterns on clay slabs and the inlaying of colored slips, she creates materials that are soft, pliable, and cloth-like in character. She is particularly skilled at crafting playful, engaging vessels that explore the relationship between form and surface, inviting users to interact and engage in a tactile dialogue with the object.
Her work is further transformed through the wood-firing process, where the marks left by flame and ash create unpredictable and dynamic visual effects. These traces enhance the individuality and vitality of each piece, emphasizing its unique character.
