Mandy Chen

Artist Mandy Chen moved to Australia as a teenager. Graduated from Queensland University of Technology with a degree in Interior Design and won the People’s Choice Award - Biennial North Queensland Ceramic Awards in 2022.

Mandy’s artistic inspiration from the Quandamooka people who live on an isolated island, their respect for nature and their attitude towards harmonious coexistence, inspired Mandy to realize the ever-changing phenomenon of the natural environment through ceramics.

Yet her work combines two themes: the fragile ecological state of our planet and a heartfelt desire to channel the masterful craftsmanship of my ancestors. And through the journey of observation, learning and self-exploration in life, expressing the narratives and emphasis on environmental ecology.
